Got your calls, [info]lechuckscurse and [info]preventermkii.

Yeah, was busy with other stuff lately and had a low amount of (hence, crappy) hours at the temp job; not to mention the work was outside. As a result, had to stay in for a while to rehydrate and recover from working outside (from job, errands, and exercising). It might be just me, but the weather is a real killer. That, or it may be the high amount of physical activity I've been doing lately, so I'm deliberately being lazy. Also, Bright House has been doing extensive maintenance near my area, so I've been getting some disconnects.

I'll make it to movie night tomorrow. Also, email me the open job links if you can, Mike; thanks in advance, man.

I hate business ethics sometimes. To the point where being political correctness is more of a hindrance than a precaution. In my case, I wish that after a job interview, the interviewer just says, "...sorry, we appreciate your interest, but we could not hire you." Instead, they have to say, "...we'll give you a call," thus, fucking with the applicant. Sure, I look for professionalism and good ethics in a business, but the fact that there has to be political correctness in what seems to be everything just pushes it too far.

Anyway, I have had it with this temp agency bullshit. I know, I don't talk much about it, but that is because I barely get work as it is (shit, I have only been working about two times a week, and they are very short shifts), and by the time I have settled into it, the job is done and I have to find another line of work. It's not making me enough money, and I need to not pay my health plan separately (my medication costs are kind of killing me since I'm not working a 40 hour week to help cover them). Luckily, the commute isn't a problem and gas coverage isn't really bad, hence the visits to fellow Nobrains. Then again, I suppose temp jobs live up to their name. They don't look good on resume (AFAIK, employers don't even recommend putting them on there) either.

I almost miss working at a department store. Funny and stupid customers make good fodder for stories to share at the bar.

3:23 am - Random GTA thoughts.
With Rockstar putting their products on Steam plus GTA IV being released soon, I have more incentive for that PS3.

Well, out of all GTAs, San Andreas is now the first I've played to 100% completion. I'm pretty glad I got the PC version off of Steam; a lot of stuff has been patched (i.e. the infamous Zero mission) to make it significantly easier than the original PS2 version. Not to mention the Keyboard + Mouse (for foot) and Gamepad (driving) combination work wonders. The only thing I really hated was the last Real Shitty RS Haul asset mission and a couple of the racing tournaments.

You know, seems to me that people like either Vice City or San Andreas more than the other. I like both equally. Story wise, I like both (I like Scarface, but I also liked Menace II Society and Boyz N The Hood). SA is more polished in gameplay features though, if you ask me. Admittingly, I like both music soundtracks as well. Finally, while VC characters seem more likable, the 1/8th Chinese blood in me really enjoyed working for the Triads in SA (Woozie =D).

1:38 am - Decisions, decisions.
If next week's interview goes well, and with "...what am I going to do with this big tax return," topics being hot this time of year, I think I can generate enough disposable income to invest in one of the following:

a) A Playstation 3 - My incentives are MGS 4, GTA IV, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Army of Two (I know this one is out already, but I like the look of both the single and multi player features).

b) A couple of ludicrous computer upgrades aka War Zone 3.5 - This would include a GeForce 9800 GX2, Quad-Core Processor, and/or a monitor that supports 1920 x 1200 resolutions. Not that I need any of those, hence why I said ludicrous in the beginning. I love my gaming rig as it is right now.

c) Convention investing - either DragonCon, San Diego Comic Con, or possibly QuakeCon.

12:57 pm - My small Megacon post.

(Thanks to Eddie for the link to pic)

Just went on Saturday for our TF2 [info]nobra_fortress group. And I think even then, we were there for just a couple of hours (other than the shoot, which I had fun doing; huge thanks to Rob Uno). I enjoyed the group very much and appreciated all of our efforts put in towards it.

As for the con itself, like others have been saying, I too have lost interest in it. I never really put much interest in anime, and although I respect it, I simply didn't like how there seemed to be too much of it around (especially the loudmouthed, obnoxious, and rude cosplayers and attendants). Also, even if I had the money, there wasn't anything really eye-popping that I wanted to get at the dealers room anyway; I would've just picked up a few TPBs and comics, and that's it. I really enjoyed when Megacon started out as mainly a sci-fi/comic book convention... That is why I have increased my interest to attend a DragonCon or San Diego Comic Con.

Either way, the main thing for me was just kicking back with friends both during the con and afterwards, also watching The Critic and playing Super Smash Bros Brawl (Heh, those games have gotten my interest now); I miss the The Critic and agree with the others that it was ahead of its time back then.

After browsing through Spider-Man: One More Day, all I have to say is... wow, it makes Maximum Clonage, The Other, or Sins Past seem like nominees for the Eisner Award. Way to crap on 20+ years of continuity, Joe Q.

Not to mention Amendment 1 passed (64%, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?)... a ridiculous tax reform policy IMO.

Man, I need to see Rambo for a third time right about now...

3:05 am - "Heroes never die, they just reload."
Holy fucking adrenaline rush, RAMBO.

Thank you Stallone, for:

*Bringing back your iconic character and showing these misguided, younger maggots what makes up an action hero. None of these weak stupid crybaby feminine-like protagonists, or whatever long ass description of the word pansy is used these days.

*Straightforward massacring of the sons of bitches who deserve it. That's right, giving due punishment to sadists, pedophiles, rapists, and downright evil bastards.

*Being a real man's hero.

NOW BRING BACK THE GOVERNATOR! I WANT TO SEE A JOHN MATRIX FILM! I'M NOT KIDDING.

2:20 am - A blanket statement
So, in regards to Friday:

If you don't go to the movies, that's fine.

If you're male and watch Meet the Spartans over Rambo... rip your genitals off, dispose them at the nearest trash can, and denounce your manhood "...you great lactating wet nurse.". Finally, die from excessive bleeding.

Same goes for the other new releases.

If you're male and watch Rambo over Meet the Spartans... congratulations, you're still a man.

If you're female and watch Rambo over Meet the Spartans... you're probably hardcore or a transvestite.

For those that think a 61 year old Rambo doesn't have it in him, you might as well say the same thing about Charles Bronson's character Paul Kersey from the Death Wish series. That goes for the other many old action heroes. Also, hating on action heroes is not cool.

5:32 pm - Loot
Thanks to my family and friends for the awesome gifts as usual. Just thought I'd share what I got this year. Heh, show and tell, I suppose...

*Silent Night, Deadly Night I and II
Pure campy slasher flick gold
*Hard Boiled (re-released)
Thanks to my brother for helping me upgrade my John Woo films from VHS to DVD.
*Arch Enemy "Rise of the Tyrant"
Their new album is pretty damn good.
*Crysis
Haven't had time to install this, but I will finally get to benchmark my system.
*Team Fortress 2 Poster
*Comics: Essential Iron Man Vol. 1 TPB and Punisher vs. Bullseye TPB
Yeah, I have not picked up any comics for a long time. I'm looking to collect some more Iron Man comics and eagerly wait for the animated series DVD. And then I figured I'd get my antihero fix with this Punisher TPB.
*Sun Tzu's The Art of War
I lost my copy, so [info]mr_saturn got me a hardback edition.

Not shown:
*Money
*Movies: The Killer, Once A Thief
Part of my brother's gift to help me with my John Woo library upgrade; they haven't shipped in yet.

EDIT: Sorry I missed your text and call, [info]preventermkii. I took a nap and didn't wake up until 11 pm. Was AVP-R good? (to those that saw it)

Crysis is so tempting... I've been hearing a lot of good things about the single player (fun like Far Cry again). But the multiplayer is what is throwing me off. Knowing me, my gaming style is involved around one or two games (online) and improving my skill on it. Then again, it is a good benchmark to fully test War Zone 3.0 (after all, it was one of the initial reasons I fully upgraded 3 months ago).

But dammit, is there a such thing as "game lock," for a lack of a better term? When I'm not trying to work on the [FN] clan website, I got Team Fortress in my veins. I guess that's what happens when one has been a fan since '97. Right now, it's pretty much TF2 and emulation, with a little bit of CoD4 thrown in.
